We will kick-off our penny war competition on Monday, September 8th. The penny wars will run thru Friday, September 19th.

Penny Wars is a competition between each grade (grades Pre-K -6 ) to collect as much money as they can within the two-week time frame. At the end of the two weeks the class that collects the most per student will receive a pizza party. Each classroom will have a bucket to place the collected money in. Any current US currency is accepted.

This money will be placed into their class account. Each class, within the district, will keep building their account up until they graduate. When they become seniors, they will have a chance to apply for their class money through a scholarship from Barnes County North Dollars for Scholars.

Please encourage your child/children to go out and collect as much as they can for their class account.

This year we will also be offering parents and grandparents the opportunity to be a "classroom sponsor" for their student's class. Listed below are your options for sponsoring a class. You will have ONE week to match funds.
     - Matching the exact amount raised
     - Matching a certain percentage of amount raised
     - Matching up to a certain dollar amount

If you are interested in becoming a classroom sponsor, please contact Kim at the BCN school office at 701-646-6202 or simply fill in the bottom portion of this letter and return it to your child's teacher and a DFS member will contact you.
