In February 2001, a group of dedicated community members from the North Central School District came together to form the North Central Area Dollars for Scholars chapter. That first year, $2,100 in scholarships were awarded - eight students received $200 each, and one student earned the $500 Cass County Electric named scholarship. Cass County Electric still generously supports Dollars for Scholars chapters in its service area today.

Ten years later, much has changed - including our name. Now known as Barnes County North Dollars for Scholars, we serve all students in the district. By 2010, scholarships had grown to $17,450, with the top award reaching $1,925. Across North Dakota, 82 Dollars for Scholars chapters collectively award more than $1.3 million annually to help students pursue their educational dreams.

Through the organized efforts of Barnes County North Dollars for Scholars, we send a powerful message to our graduates: "Our community values education. We are behind you, and we wish you success in the future."
