Over A Decade of Giving

A group of local citizens from the North Central School District met at the school on February 27, 2001 to discuss and form the North Central Area Dollars for Scholars chapter.  The first year $2100 was awarded for scholarships.  Eight students received $200 each and one student received the Cass County Electric named scholarship for $500.  Cass County Electric continues to give this scholarship to Dollars for Scholars chapters that are in their service area.

Ten years have come and gone.  We have changed our name to Barnes County North Dollars for Scholars including all students in the school district.  The amount of scholarships has increased to $17,450 in 2010 with the top scholarship being $1925.  North Dakota has 82 Dollars for Scholars chapters that distribute more than $1.3 million to North Dakota students each year.

By the organized effort of Barnes County North Dollars for Scholars, we will assure that as many local students as possible will find support and hear the message behind the money - "Our community values education. We are behind you and we wish you well in the future".
